Part Two—my analysis:
Connectivism is another theory for learning, and it seems that over time, theories pop up to make sense of ‘how’ others view learning best practices of present, hence updating another term for learning. The article states “(past) theories, however, were developed in a time when learning was not impacted through technology.” With disagreement (and need of clarification of the author’s operational definition of technology), technology has been evolving alongside learners from the time Socrates held face-to-face seminars. Tablets, and papyrus were technological advances, changing the interface for learning and recording information. Ships, and the Pony Express were once new technologies for learners—allowing students to learn brand new information. Chalkboards were a huge advancement in classrooms for learning, enabling teachers and educators to demonstrate new ways of teaching and processing information. Now, in our over-information age, technological creations like Skype and video conferencing enables learners to hold Socratic Seminars Globally (very cool indeed), but has that changed how we think?
